Contributors to Punks Listen

We were so lucky to have the so many good people write something for our collection of stories. We reached out to as many contacts as we had and they contacted their friends and so on. Humbled beyond belief.

Play of the day? Nuff Said

Heavy pop punk/hardcore newcomers Homebase may not be named after a DIY trading store but the band continue their momentum with the release of “Nuff Said,” a blistering and emotionally charged new single out today.

Hope *3 out now

New issue of Hope zine is out now. So we have done it again. We have written to people we admire and asked them a simple question. This time around we have compiled their answers into a 36 A4 page fanzine. Hope *3 asks the question what gave you the inspiration to start doing what you are doing and what inspires you to continue. We wanted positivity, hoping for something that will give you the urge to create, communicate positively and look for good in the world. Play of the day popping at you with Power

This is a throwback to Elvis Costello 'Watching the Detectives' or Squeeze 'Up The Junction'. Kurt Baker relocated to NYC last year and set about putting some power into his pop. It's the melodies that if speeded up could become the basis of a Green Day that really get me. That hook laden new wave force. It will put a smile on your face and you might even look for some Accidents to Happen in your record collection after listening to these 2 tracks

document 9 – the west is still very much awake

For document 9 we move to Galway and celebrate the rich history of its scene. In conjunction with Torann punk and metal weekend Hope Collective takes over the Rosin Dubh for a night of chats.

Another week over

I have a playlist on my phone to get me through a plane journey. I was lucky to have the front seat of the plane and watched people coming and going to the toilet for three hours. It gives you an interesting take on the journey. I try not to spend too much time wondering how much time each person spent in the toilet and the distraction always came down to the song in my ears.

Play of the day is a joint effort

4 bands, 12 songs on this true collection of unity across street punk scenes.  AN Slua from Ireland, Red Bricks from Germany, The Uncouth from USA and Reckless Upstarts from Canada all join forces over a 12" record

Play of the day are far from Dead

Back for a second album this is not the difficult release that befalls many of their contemporaries. Dead Pioneers songs are statements. Statements expressing sentiment about the state of the world and how we as people deal with each other. Their songs are manifestos for a better environment. They are calling people out on their racism and are looking for us to find our way through it.
